Interior & Exterior Painter FAQs

The following are painting questions that we are regularly asked from our San Antonio area clients. If you have any questions that are not addressed in this FAQ, you can always feel free to email Braun Painting customer service team thru our "Contact Our Painters" tab or simply call our office.

A) What paint colors are the best colors and why?

The color that is best is unique to each individual like, and desires, and is a very important decision. Color can drastically change the way your exterior or interior appears. Color can affect our moods. For example red, yellow, and orange are considered to be warm colors which incite happy moods. These colors are great for offices for that reason. Blue, green, and purple are considered to be cool colors because they are relaxing, and peaceful. These colors are great for a bedroom, den, or simply an area where you would like to relax. Light colors such as beige, or any off white color are spacious, and uplifting. These paint colors are great for making a smaller room feel larger. Dark colors make rooms look smaller, and can be depressing if not done properly. Depending on the look you are striving for sometimes dark colors are the perfect touch for an accent wall or a two toned wall to give it that pop, and pizzazz. Bold colors are appealing while whites reflect light, but be careful they get dirty pretty easily!

B) After painting is it ok to clean my walls?

We recommend that you wait 2 to 3 weeks, after you have your walls painted to clean with a cleaner other than water. Make sure to read all labels for your cleaner, and make sure to properly dilute to prevent damage to your new coat of paint. Also to make sure that it won't damage the new paint on your walls we recommend cleaning first on a small unnoticeable area.

C) Can I paint over my vinyl siding or do I have to take it all down?

Yes, you can paint the exterior of your home even over vinyl siding. Not only is it cheaper, and easier than replacing vinyl siding, painting over your siding can look great too if you use the right paint! It can change the whole appearance of the exterior of your home! You can paint the exterior of your home more than once, and it provides quite a unique look if done properly. Painting the exterior of your home can also improve your curb appeal. Whether you are looking to sell your home or simply would like to enjoy your home from the outside just as much as you do the inside painting the exterior is definitely a cheaper and excellent option!

D) What is the best paint finish for my project?

The best paint finish depends on the area you are going to have painted, and its use. Make sure if you are painting your exterior to use an exterior paint that will stand up to weather. If you are painting interior make sure you choose an interior paint. Whether you are painting a high traffic area or an area that's not used that much. The most popular finishes we come across are Flat, Eggshell, Satin, and Semi-gloss. Flat has no shine at all and can be difficult to clean but is great at hiding defects. Eggshell has a slight shine to it, and is very easy to clean. Sating has a little more shine than eggshell, and is also very easy to clean. Semi-gloss is normally used on trim, and window bases, and has more shine than eggshell or satin.

E) I'm not sure what color I want can I still get an estimate?

Yes, don't let color stand in your way. You can always decide on the color you want to paint at a later time, and still have your project priced out. If you need help on choosing a color we can show you our color fan decks while we are providing your estimate. This also allows you to see what the color looks like in your home instead of beneath the bright white lights at the paint store.
